TOORC is moving forward and focusing on created a gaming oriented website
to cater to our TOORC members. We will be offering wall-to-wall
gaming news coverage on your next-gen consoles plus giving reviews
and previews of the video games you are interested in. A gaming
staff will be starting soon.
Made possible through the use of the recently released Opera web
browser, Wii Media Center X allows your Wii to play a variety of
media stored on PCs networked with the system including MP3s, pictures,
and even video -- provided it's converted to the right format.
Big bonus: WMCX can do it all without a single extraneous storage
solution -- no SD card required. And for us Xbox Media Center vets,
the interface serves as a sleek, simple throwback to what we've
come to expect from console-based media centers.
Check out
the official site where you can download the software, read setup
and use tutorials, and donate to the WMCX cause. Early reports say
that the software is a little rough around the edges, but shows great
promise. When you think about it, implementing a streaming media solution
on a network-ready console isn't all that difficult -- take note for future
Wii updates, Nintendo. This kind of feature could bring the Wii out of
the stone age.
One of our TOORC members managed to test out the new Wii internet browser that was just released this week. So now you can surf the masses of internet porn while playing with your Wii!
Of course, the pictures we provided below are a shameless plug to our TOORC forum.
The full Media Create sales charts have gone live, which includes hardware sales and the top 50 games sold in Japan for the week of December 11th - 17th.
- Nintendo DS - 319,708
- Wii - 108,237
- PlayStation 3 - 70,942
- PSP - 48,962
- PlayStation 2 - 37,730
- Xbox 360 - 17,168
Almost 320,000 Nintendo DS units sold in one week? Amazing. It also appears that Blue Dragon sales are helping the Xbox 360 find its way into more Japanese households (it generally sells somewhere between one- and three-thousand units weekly).
The expanded chart also shows where The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Blue Dragon landed after falling out of the top 30. The former hangs on at spot #33 while Blue Dragon slides down to spot #46.
Despite healthy sales of the PlayStation 3, only two games appear within the top 50, with the newly released Motorstorm checking in at #35 and Ridge Racer 7 barely squeaking in at #49.
GoNintendo has found a way to do tabbed browsing on your Wii's Opera Browser. A reader sent them this handy tip: Point your Wii browser to http://team-dsx.net/ds/basic.php. Once there you will see a tab appear in the upper left hand corner of your screen. By clicking on the tiny tab icon in the corner (not the "x") it will allow you to put in another url and open a new tab.
North Pole News: Special Christmas Treat on the Way for Wii
This year Santa is getting some competition from another jolly guy with a
big belly and a red cap. We're talking about video game icon Mario(TM), of
course. As a special holiday surprise for Wii(TM) owners from Nintendo, the
original Super Mario Bros. (TM) game for the Nintendo Entertainment System(R)
will appear in the Wii Shop Channel and be downloadable for 500 Wii Points.
Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to

The classic game will make Christmas morning extra special, just as it did
more than two decades ago. Super Mario Bros. reigns as perhaps the best-known
